Before I joined Fitlife I was afraid to go anywhere near a gym. Nine years on, I'm no longer afraid. Fitlife has transformed the way I think about exercise, transformed the way I exercise and transformed my understanding of why I exercise. Fitlife has given me a love for coming to the gym and a feeling that I do belong there, as well as, a belief that I am capable of doing things I never thought possible.

I joined FitLife Summertown in February 2023 just before I turned 50 having decided enough was enough with my aching back and general unfitness. It was a bit of a leap of faith as gyms had always intimidated me. I immediately felt at home, safe and supported - surrounded by other customers who looked a lot like me in terms of age and experience. I'm an early riser - so the fact there was always something on for me at 6.30 was perfect. My first love was the spin studio and through this I managed to get pretty fit. I decided that I wanted to try weights - and did some personal training. The PT sessions were amazing, but I quickly found that I was worried about lifting on my own without someone watching my form as I am a little accident and injury prone. So, I carried on with FIRE class and Spin as endless 1:1 PT sessions were not in my budget. THEN they closed my spin studio - I was raging. Coach Andrew assured me that Small Group PT would be exactly what I needed, and he was right (don't tell him I said that)! Great coaches.

Small groups where you can have a lot of fun but also get a lot of support. Close enough coaching supervision that you can start to shift some serious weight because someone has their eye on your form and can adapt exercises to cater for the various injuries the participants have. Regular check-ins to set and achieve fitness and lifestyle goals - which work! Every session is different, so it never gets boring (which is important to me as I have a very short attention span). I'm in the best shape of my life, I'm strong, and I feel confident in the gym. I'm grateful to the team and members at FitLife for their support and for all the fun along the way.

I joined the FitLife SGPT program in June to try and improve my neglected upper body strength, learn to focus more intentionally on strength training and learn more about using weights. It's been 5 months now and I've loved every session. They perfectly complement group exercise classes, giving me the variety and pace in the timetable I need each week to keep me motivated. This is uncommon in the fitness world in recent years but it works for our clients and for us, as they get better results and personal attention.
